Public Relations officer for Charterhouse, George Quaye has denied having any knowledge of the decision by the board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards to banKakaimusician, Shatta Wale for a number of years.
GhOneTv’s sister radio station Live FM, on Tuesday received an authenticated tip from a member of the awards organising team who stated the measures they want to take against Shatta whose efforts seem to be tainting their “good brand”.But speaking to ghonetv.com, George Quaye said
“although the source may be the right person, he may have spewed some wrong information to the reporter.”
“I have absolutely no knowledge of any such moves. As far as I know, the boardhas not taken that decision and we as organisers do not have any knowledge of such.”When asked if thisfalse tip could be their attempt at using Shatta Wale’s name to build controversy around the show in order to attain the needed hype,
Quaye said “The VGMA doesn’t need publicity even from John Mahama[Ghana’s President].”“The event thriveson its own and has no need at all for all these funnystunts. It’s just that each year, things happen and people talk when they happen. That’s it!”he rebuffed. The 2016 VGMAs is set for May 7.Shatta Wale is hoping to winSong of the Yearaward with a recenthit track,Kakai.
