Let’s break it down.

We all agree 2017 has been a good year for dancehall artiste Shatta Wale. He has several hits produced within the year and has also engaged in several controversies that keep his name in the minds of people.

His song with the militants (Join 77, Captain, Addy Sef), ‘Taking Over’ really took over. No one will doubt that it was really a great hit, all across the country and dominated for several months before dying down to allow other songs come up.

At number 2 and 3 is Nigeria’s Davido. David’s two songs, ‘If’ and ‘Fall’ sold really well in Ghana although it was not a Ghanaian song. Both songs came around the same time and Ghanaians loved it. Davido really had some magic going on in those songs that got everyone loving it.

Shatta Wale’s Ayoo wasn’t as aggressive as ‘Taking over’ but it also traveled far.

The new kids on the bloc, Kidi and Kuami Eugene’s songs were only recently in but already made the top 10! That should be great for the young lads. Kidi’s ‘Odo’ is almost everywhere now. Same can be said of Kuami Eugene, whose ‘Angela’ song featuring Ahuofe Patri is still blazing hot and reigning in the country.

Why aren’t we surprised? These are products of the master producer, Richie of Lynx Entertainment, what more could we have expected?

It would have been fraud if Shatta Wale didn’t feature again! Yes. Like we mentioned earlier, he produced so many songs in in the year and a handful of them all made hits. Forgetti is one of them. He produced this song after the ‘Taking over’. It again featured the militants, Natty Lee and Pope Skinny.

Many would be surprised Patapaa came 8th. Well…. He still made the top 10 though. One corner even crawled it way into the Nigerian market and got everyone crazy especially with the accompanying dance. It enjoyed a sharp appreciation and a sharp decline too, but still doing wonders in Nigeria we are told. Wo b3 ti piiii!

Run Town’s ‘Mad over you’ wasn’t bad. Cool track for the lovers. It went wall. I guess, more lovers were searching for the song to make their points known to the loved ones.

Davido matched Shatta Wale with 3 top tracks. This time he got ‘Fia’ into the list as well.
